Brown has worked as a rehearsal pianist for Dear Evan Hansen and King Kong. Brown began talking to someone who he assumed to be a 14-year-old boy on the dating app Grindr, when he was really talking to an undercover NYPD cop. He was arrested when he showed up to the Queens address with a backpack full of lubricant and condoms. His bail was set for $20,000 at Queens Criminal Court. Queens Acting District Attorney John M. Ryan said that Brown was "told numerous times" that the person he thought was chatting with was underage, and he still continued to pursue him and travelled from Manhattan to Queens to have sex. When told that the "boy" was 14, Brown replied with "ha-ha nice," according to the criminal complaint against him. A Broadway pianist has been charged with multiple crimes after being caught allegedly trying to meet with a 14-year-old boy for sex, prosecutors say. Justin Brown, a 26-year-old from Manhattan who has worked on multiple shows, is accused of attempted use of a child in a sexual performance, attempted criminal sexual act and other offenses. Prosecutors allege Brown thought he was communicating with a teenage boy on Snapchat and Grindr, but that "boy" was an undercover police officer. The officer posing as the teenage boy got a message through Grindr from Brown Sept. 2; in the message, Brown asked about the boy's age and allegedly said, "nice," after being told he was 14. Then Brown asked to switch the conversation to Snapchat. Brown thought he was meeting a 14-year-old boy for sex, prosecutors said. In fact, the “boy” was an undercover NYPD cop who’d posed as a kid on the dating app Grindr, prosecutors said. In custody, Brown allegedly admitted that he’d been chatting with several underage boys.
